VERONA (WKOW) -- Its 12 opponents aren't the only obstacles the Verona football team has had to overcome this season. Two tragedies have struck two Wilcat seniors. Alan Kopp's father was killed in a car accident in June. Later, just last Sunday, senior Spencer Schultz's dad was found dead in a Verona park. Schultz's father was taking a morning walk.
Thanks to the tremendous support from their coaches and teammates, both players quickly returned back to the football field. Kopp started the season, following the accident in June and Schultz returned to practice just four days after his father passed. With the help of both Kopp and Schultz, Verona is just two wins away from its first football state championship in school history.
