
MILWAUKEE – The Bobbie Kelsey era of the Wisconsin women's basketball team opened with a winning, down Milwaukee 68-51. After leading 28-22 at halftime, the Badgers outscored the Panthers 40-29 in the second half for the win.
Junior Taylor Wurtz led all players with 17 points and 14 rebounds for her third career double-double. Senior Anya Covington added 12 points and seniors Jade Davis and Ashley Thomas both chipped in 10 points. Thomas scored a career best and also pulled down a career high six rebounds. Covington was second on the team with eight boards as Wisconsin outrebounded Milwaukee 48-24.
Wisconsin opens its home season on Sunday vs. Oral Roberts (1-0). Tip-off is at 2 p.m. from the Kohl Center.
