WKOW 27: Madison, WI Breaking News, Weather and SportsHS FB: Madison Edgewood loses on blocked FG in state semi-final

MADISON (WKOW) -- Madison Edgewood won on a last-minute play by its own defense to defeat Mt. Horeb/Barneveld in the Div. 3 state football quarterfinal, but on Friday night, it was the other team's defense (or more accurately, special teams) that came up big.

The Crusaders battled from a 35-17 deficit and trailed 35-32 in the final minute with a chance to win on a field goal. But Wisconsin Lutheran was able to block the kick to seal a win and advance to the WIAA state football tournament at Camp Randall Stadium.

Friday's game was Edgewood's first Level 4 WIAA playoff appearance.
