MADISON (WKOW) -- Many local stores are counting on your business on Black Friday.
Dane County Executive Joe Parisi visited Capitol Kids toy store Tuesday to encourage shoppers to shop local businesses first.
Parisi says local purchases benefit the county through sales tax revenue.
"When that's up [sales tax revenue] it provides tax relief to everyone," said Parisi. "It allows us to invest in the services we need to clean up our lakes, help our safety net for our vulnerable citizens, and buying local helps because that keeps our economy going."
The Andersonville Study of Retail Economics found $68 of every $100 spent at a local business remains in the local economy.
