MADISON (WKOW) -- Two turkeys were spared this Thanksgiving.
The turkeys, along with some ducks and roosters, feasted on a buffet at Heartland Farm Sanctuary in Verona.
Volunteers fed the animals squash, pumpkin, cranberries and stuffing
Heartland is a non-profit that cares for homeless farm animals, and plans to make today's feast a Thanksgiving tradition.
"Other farm sanctuaries, really well known farm sanctuaries, have done it in the past, especially ones that have a whole bunch of turkeys," said Sarah Solberg, barn manager at the Heartland Farm Sanctuary. "They just decide to give something back to the turkeys on Thanksgiving day."
The pigs weren't left out either. They got to feast on the leftovers.
