WKOW 27: Madison, WI Breaking News, Weather and SportsMadison teachers union asks court to invalidate collective bargaining law

MADISON (WKOW) -- Madison Teachers, Inc. and Milwaukee's AFL-CIO Local 61 together asked that a Dane County Circuit Court rule the stripping of collective bargaining rights to school district employees violates the Wisconsin Constitution.

Both parties believe the law, known as Act 10, violates the employees' rights to freedom of association and equal protection of the law as guaranteed by the state constitution.

The state has thirty days to respond to the unions' motion.
