INDIANAPOLIS (WKOW) -- It was the first Big Ten awards gala at the Indianapolis Convention Center and there were some huge names in attendance: legends like Ron Dayne, Dick Butkis, Pat Richter, Archie Griffin and Eddie George were all on hand to hand out some hardwear.
Dayne presented the conference's Running Back of the Year award to Montee Ball's parents. Ball also received the Offensive Player of the Year award tonight.
For Dayne, it was special to hand off the award to another great Badgers back.
Like Ball, Russell Wilson is also a bit busy preparing for Saturday's game, so Wilson's brother Harry accepted the Griese-Brees award for the conference's Quarterback of the Year.
"He's my younger brother but I look up to him," said Wilson. "It's the opportunity of a lifetime and something he'll never forget."
Friday night is something Harry will never forget, either -- the chance to be around so many legends of the game.
One of those legends, former UW athletic director Pat Richter, spoke about the amazing play of Wilson and Ball, and says the duo is really something they've never had at Wisconsin.
