Local Badger fans prepare for the Rose Bowl

MADISON (WKOW) - It's all roses for Badger fans, unless you're being left behind.

"I just didn't have enough money to go this year," said Kjell Hanson, a Madison resident.

"I am not going also because of financial constraints," said Amy Ranzen, a Badger fan.

With the badgers headed to the Rose Bowl two years in a row, fans say it's twice is nice and also expensive!

"This year we have received a lot of calls and comments on how people can't do it two years in a row with the holidays at the same time," said Nikki Brewer, a travel consultant with Middleton Travel.

Nikki brewer with Middleton travel says they've already sold out of their package deals starting at $2,200 dollars.  But she says they've gotten fewer calls this year about the game.

"So tons of people went last year. about a third of people went this year," she said.

At Dane County Regional Airport, Charter flights are also down.  Fifteen instead of 22 jets will be headed to Pasadena. Yet airport officials still expect to see about twice the amount of travelers on December 30 and 31.

And those who sell Badger gear say sales are good, but the Rose Bowl may becoming "old hat" to fans.

"It's begun to feel like its the expectation of this team to go to Rose Bowls," said Lid Manager Seth Robbins. "Everybody's like 'yep just another year in Pasadena'."
Just another year..

Just another year in Pasadena, or left behind.

"I am excited to see the game... from a TV," laughed Robbins.

We spoke to several travel agencies today that have already sold out of their package deals to the Rose Bowl, but you can still find flights. Delta has added two additional flight to LAX and those tickets are about 500 dollars round trip.

MADISON (WKOW) -- It's the second year in a row the Wisconsin Badgers are headed to Pasadena for the Rose Bowl.

Fans may be just as excited but can they afford to fly out to California again?
