GREEN BAY (WKOW) -- The Green Bay Packers are taking advantage of the warm winter to get a head start on the addition to Lambeau Field.
The team is adding 6,700 seats to the south endzone.
Both endzones will also get new high definition scoreboards that are more than double the current size. But first, it all starts with the foundation.
Director of Facility Operations Ted Eisenreich, says, "When the structure was built it was obviously built to hold what's here. So as we move up, and we put a bigger scoreboard up, put the viewing platform on the roof, all the steel that's existing needs to be reinforced. "
More than 1,600 workers from across the state will contribute to the two-year project.
The Packers are on schedule to unveil the new additions in August of 2013.
