DETROIT (WKOW) -- Ford is recalling about 450,000 vehicles to fix defects that can cause fires or loss of power.
The recall involves more than 205,000 Ford Freestar and Mercury Monterey minivans, model years 2004 and 2005. The recall also includes more than 244, 500 Ford Escapes SUVs from the 2001-2002 model years.
The Escape recall follows another in 2007 during which Ford, based in Dearborn, Michigan, said some of the vehicles may not have been properly repaired. The minivan recalls followed an investigation by the U.S. auto-safety regulator.
