More time requested for recall petition process

Posted:

MADISON (WKOW)--State election officials have formally asked a judge for more time to review nearly two million recall petition signatures.

State law gives them 31 days to complete the process, but they're asking for at least 60.

Dane County Judge Richard Neiss scheduled a hearing for 9 a.m. Wednesday.

Government Accountability Board workers are making progress in the review process.

They say they've scanned in all the petitions targeting four republican state senators and they're more than halfway done with petitions targeting Governor Scott Walker.

But, they haven't started on the 140,000 pages for Lieutenant Governor Rebecca Kleefisch.
