MADISON (WKOW) -- Dozens of people came together to take part in the first annual PurpleBowl. It's meant to raise more awareness about pancreatic cancer.
Forty thousand people will be diagnosed with the deadly disease this year, and there's only a 6 percent survival rate.
The organizer of the event says she's there in memory of her husband who lost his battle with the cancer a year and a half ago.
"Not much has changed in 40 years and where else would we put up with no change into in our automobiles, this is human life. Something needs to change," said Deb Harman, Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.
WKOW's very own Tony Galli made a special appearance at the event, along with Meteorologist Brian Olson, who helped MC the event that took up about 30 lanes.
All of the money raised goes to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, to spread awareness and fund research.
