WASHINGTON (WKOW) - The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission is recalling about 248,000 expandable insulated lunch boxes. The lunch boxes have a freezer gel pack.
Safety officials say they have received two separate reports of a dog chewing and ingesting gel from the gel pack. One dog reportedly died from ingestion of the gel. The other was reported to have received treatment and has recovered.
Gel in the lunchbox contains diethylene glycol and ethylene glycol.
These gels can leak out of damaged freezer packs. This could be
a poisonous hazard for children and adults.
Consumers should stop using the gel packs and dispose of them. Consumers have the opportunity to return the box set to Costco for a full refund or receive a $5 cash refund by contacting California Innovations.
