DANE COUNTY (WKOW) -- Dane County authorities say a 19-year-old man was arrested Monday on a felony bomb threat charge.
The Dane County Sheriff's Office says deputies were alerted to the threats by Marshall police on Monday, January 23.
Officials say a concerned citizen contacted police after seen "disturbing" threats made on Seth Schumacher's Facebook page. On his page, Schumacher threatened to bomb the school and the police station in Marshall. Schumacher also made threats of going on a killing spree and shooting everyone in sight.
Investigators were able to verify the information via interviews and Facebook, and Schumacher was arrested and booked into the Dane County Jail.
In a release, the Dane County Sheriff's Office said it "would like to commend the person who had the thoughtfulness and courage to come forward with this information. As we know from previous tragedies, many times there are threats and warning signs that are ignored or not taken seriously. But thanks in part to this citizen's willingness to take action, a possible tragedy may have been averted in our community."
