MADISON (WKOW) -- Tommy Thompson raised more than $656,000 in three months for his campaign for the Republican nomination in the U.S. Senate race.

Fundraising figures from October to December also show Thompson has $544,000 cash on hand for his Senate seat bid.

He has done much better than his rival Mark Neumann. Neumann raised $518,000 over the period.

This was the first report Thompson has filed since entering the race in October.

Assembly Speaker Jeff Fitzgerald is also in the running. As of midday Monday, his report was not yet filed. He has until Tuesday.

U.S. Rep. Tammy Baldwin is the only Democrat running. She raised $1.1 million over the period.
