MADISON (WKOW) -- Wisconsin state Assembly Speaker Jeff Fitzgerald is behind in campaign fundraising compared to the two other Republicans running for retiring Herb Kohl's U.S. Senate seat.
On Tuesday, Fitzgerald reported that his campaign has raised $77,000.
Former governor Tommy Thompson has raised $656,000 and former U.S. Rep. Mark Neumann collected $518,000 over the last three months of 2011.
Fitzgerald says while he doesn't have the money his opponents do, he believes he can win by touting his accomplishments in the Assembly. Fitzgerald says he sees the race as a marathon, not a sprint.
U.S. Rep. Tammy Baldwin is the only announced Democratic candidate. She has raised the most. Baldwin brought in $1.1 million between October and December.
