MADISON (WKOW) -- According to an updated Madison police report, the current status of a dog that was shot Thursday morning is unknown.
Madison police updated their police report Thursday afternoon to say that initial information coming from the scene was that the dog had been killed. However, an officer with animal control says the dog suffered a head wound and was still breathing after the shooting.
Law enforcement officials were executing a search warrant at a home in McFarland, when a dog posed a threat to officers and was shot.
The dog was transported to an emergency veterinary clinic.
Madison police says the current status of the dog is unknown.
MADISON (WKOW) -- Madison police say a dog was shot and killed Thursday morning when authorities were executing a search warrant at a McFarland home.
Officials say it happened around 11:00 a.m. Thursday on Lakeview Avenue in McFarland.
Madison police say members of the Dane County Narcotics & Gang Task Forces were serving a search warrant, when the dog presented a threat and was shot and killed by a law enforcement officer.
Madison police are not releasing any other information at this time.
