Police release sketch of man who allegedly attacked UW student

MADISON (WKOW) – Madison police have released a sketch of a man who allegedly attacked a UW–Madison student in late December.

Police say the reason for the delay in producing the sketch is because the victim had been out of the state since the crime.

On December 21, a 19-year-old female UW-Madison student told police she was knocked down after a stranger punched her in the face two to three times when she was walking on N. Carroll Street near Langdon Street at 4:30 a.m. The victim says she screamed just as a car approached, which distracted her attacker and she was able to run to safety. The student suffered facial injuries.

The suspect was described as a male, possibly Hispanic with a light complexion, 5' 7", in his 20's, medium build, short black "buzz cut" style hair, clean shaven, well-groomed, wearing black wool coat similar to a pea coat, and dark jeans.

Anyone with information on this case is asked to contact Madison Area Crime Stoppers at 608-266-6014.
