Sex assault charge filed against former Beaver Dam custodian
BEAVER DAM (WKOW) -- A former custodian for the Beaver Dam school district is now charged with the repeated sexual assault of a child.
Charges were filed Friday against 27-year-old Joseph A. Posthuma.
According to the criminal complaint, Posthuma began a sexual relationship with a 14-year-old high school student in November 2010. The complaint says their encounters happened at Posthuma's home and both the girl and Posthuma told police the acts were consensual.
If convicted, Posthuma faces up to 40 years in prison and $100,000 in fines.
Court records show a judge set Posthuma's bond at $5,000.
He'll be back in court February 16.
Police say Posthuma has been fired from the school district.
