WKOW 27: Madison, WI Breaking News, Weather and SportsUW-La Crosse students forced out for months

LA CROSSE (WKOW)--  Close to 300 University of Wisconsin La Crosse students have to pack up, and move out. 

There was a fire in their dorm that started in the basement.

Now the chancellor says it will take longer than expected to clean it up.

Environmental experts think it could be about two three months before they could go back to Drake Hall.

Students now have to relocate to other dorms.

The basement temperature went up to 800 degrees when the fire broke out.

Electrical and mechanical systems need to be examined.
