Decision on Braun's appeal could be delayed even longer

Posted:

MILWAUKEE (WKOW) -- Major League Baseball has a rule that the panel chair would need to make a decision on Braun's appeal within 25 days of the hearing, but now we're informed that's not necessarily the case.

That rule really only applies during the season, and since it's the offseason, the parties involved can agree to extend discussions beyond the 25-day window. That could push a decision out another two weeks -- to Braun's spring training reporting date with the Brewers on February 24th.

Braun, of course, faces a 50-game suspension for failing baseball's drug test. He's really fighting for his reputation and possibly his legacy. Baseball has a lot on the line too -- specifically the validity of its drug-testing program.
