MADISON (WKOW) -- February is National Children's Dental Health Month. Dentists are sending out the message to choose appropriate drinks and snacks.

Kids are taught at an early age to brush and floss their teeth to prevent cavities, but good dental health requires a bit more than that.

Dr. Keri Stucenski says good nutrition is extremely important to dental health, but that it's something that's often overlooked.

"Often parents just think brushing and flossing, but actually there's a lot more that goes into it," Dr. Stucenski said.

Teaching kids to make healthier food and beverage choices will lead to better results at the dentists office. Choosing low-fat milk and dairy products will also result in better overall health for growing kids.
