LOS ANGELES (WKOW) -- Shares of Apple hit $500 Monday for the first time ever.

The tech giant's stock has soared lately with record sales of iPhones and iPads.

Just six months ago, Apple hit the $400 a share level for the first time.

At this time three years ago, shares traded at just $78.20.
