DeForest man to serve three years for sexual assault

DEFOREST (WKOW) -

A DeForest man will spend three years in prison for sexually assaulting a cognitively disabled man.

The Wisconsin State Journal reports David R. Haug, 61, pleaded no contest in January to third-degree sexual assault, and told Dane County Circuit Judge Roger Allen on Tuesday that he was sorry for what he did to the man. Judge Allen said he it would depreciate the seriousness of the crime to place Haug on probation, as was sought by his attorney.

The judge also sentenced Haug to five years extended supervision.

According to a criminal complaint, Haug had inappropriate contact with the man while the man's caregiver was away.

Allen also sentenced Haug to five years of extended supervision.
