MADISON (WKOW) -- Assembly Democrats are proposing 18 pieces of legislation that target ethics reforms in state government.
Calling it the "Restore Integrity Tour", Democrats say the reforms are "designed to reverse the worst power abuses of Gov. Walker and legislative Republicans and restore integrity to all branches of Wisconsin government."
The legislation focuses on: job appointees by Gov. Scott Walker, reducing the influence of corporate and special-interest money in state government, restoring judicial integrity, and re-establishing open meeting requirements for the legislature.
The Democrats held a news conference Thursday morning to announce the reforms.
While conceding the proposals will be difficult to pass, Democratic leaders said they hope to recruit frustrated members of the GOP to join them.
