WASHINGTON (WKOW) -- President Barack Obama raised $29 million in January for his campaign and the Democratic Party. The funds put him ahead of the pace he set in the last quarter of 2011.
The Obama campaign announced the president raised the money through his Victory Fund for his re-election campaign, the Democratic National Committee and related committees. The announcement was made in a Twitter message.
The funds raise Obama's combined totals to about $250 million for this election cycle. He averaged about $23 million a month in the last three months of 2011.
Fundraising concluded before the president's campaign announced Obama would embrace the big-money fundraising groups he once criticized and let them help in his re-election.
