FITCHBURG (WKOW) -- A driver involved in a rollover crash in Fitchburg on Saturday that killed three people has been arrested and tentatively charged with homicide by drunken driving.

Fitchburg police said early Sunday that more charges are expected. Police say the driver fled the scene before he was arrested.

Police Sgt. Don Bomkamp said the crash happened about 5 p.m. Saturday. All five people in the car were men in their late teens or early 20s. Their names have not yet been released.

The car was headed eastbound on Lacy Road when it went through a stop sign, hit the railroad tracks and a utility pole, then rolled.

No one was wearing a seat belt which resulted in four people being ejected. Three individuals died at the scene while the fourth was critically injured.

The driver fled but was arrested a few blocks away.

Police said speed and alcohol were factors in the incident.

Two other occupants were injured. One was taken from the scene by Med Flight.
