MADISON (WKOW) -- A bill that would extend no-call prohibitions to text messages is set to be taken up the state Assembly on Tuesday.
Right now, numbers placed on Wisconsin's no-call list cannot be called by telephone solicitors. The ban doesn't include nonprofit organizations, calls made in response to a request for solicitation or to a solicitor's current customers.
The bipartisan bill would bar solicitors from sending texts to numbers on the no-call list. The measure passed the Assembly's consumer protection committee on a 7-0 vote last week.
The full Assembly is scheduled to take up the bill during Tuesday's floor session.
