MADISON (WKOW) - Tuesday, the new voter ID law will take effect in the spring primary election. Voters musts show a valid photo ID and sign the poll book during the election process.
Under the new law, you are not able to vote in your new district if you have moved in the past 28 days.
If you forget your photo ID Tuesday you can fill out a provisional ballot. Voters must bring their form of ID to the election inspectors before the polls close Tuesday or to the municipal clerk no later than 4:00 p.m. Friday for the vote to count.
City Clerk Maribeth Witzel-Behl said she expects about a five percent voter turnout Tuesday. She said because districts have changed voters might have a new polling location.
"We will have someone at the polls checking your address right as you arrive so they will be able to direct you to the right polling place," Witzel-Behl said.
If your polling location has changed you should have received a letter in the mail. Voters can also call their local municipal office with questions.
Voters that are scheduled to vote at the Jefferson Senior Community Center on Old Sauk Road will now vote at Blackhawk Church. The location was canceled because of a norovirus outbreak.
