MADISON (WKOW) -- "Verify the Recall" continues to validate the signatures on the recall petitions against Gov. Scott Walker, even though his campaign announced Monday it will not file any challenges.
"Verify the Recall" (VTR) is an independent organization made up of Tea Party groups that have been compiling a database of all the names on the petitions. As of Monday, 14,000 VTR volunteers had entered more than 90 percent of the signatures gathered for the gubernatorial recall.
"It is now more important than ever for Verify The Recall to complete its signature validation process,"says Tim Dake, a co-organizer of VTR. "It is vital to the integrity of the recall process to conduct a thorough review of all recall signatures submitted. It now appears that Verify The Recall will be the only organization to complete such a thorough review."
VTR says it will submit its findings to the Government Accountability Board as soon as possible. Ross Brown, another co-organizer of VTR says "The GAB is the final referee in deeming signatures eligible or ineligible. Verify The Recall is working to help the GAB make informed decisions about recall signature eligibility by providing well-documented, factual information about questionable signatures."
Brown claims that more than 55,000 signatures in the gubernatorial recall are ineligible because of incomplete records, signatures out of the acceptable date range, duplications, or similar issues.
