Lt. Gov. Kleefisch won't challenge recall signatures

MADISON (WKOW) -- Lt. Gov. Rebecca Kleefisch says she will not challenge any recall signatures against her.

Kleefisch notified the Government Accountability Board Thursday that her campaign will not finish its review of the signatures by the March 5 deadline.

Democrats say they turned in about 845,000 signatures to remove Kleefisch from office. They need 540,208 to force a recall election.

Gov. Walker had until this past Monday to challenge any of the signatures against him, but his campaign chose not to, saying it did not have enough time to finish its review.

The GAB has until March 19 to verify whether there are enough valid signatures to order elections.
