STEVENS POINT (WKOW) -- Police have confirmed the body found in the Wisconsin River is that of 21-year-old Eric Duffey, a UW-Stevens Point student from Fitchburg.
Police say they don't think anything suspicious led to Duffey's death.
Instead they are saying alcohol could be a factor, though they are still waiting on toxicology results.
A dive team pulled Duffey's body from the river next to the Clark Street bridge after 1 p.m. Monday. Investigators say they focused their search here after a K9 unit led them to the Wisconsin River.
They also got a tip from someone who said he or she heard yells for help from the river early Saturday morning but didn't see anything when they looked.
Duffey was last seen in downtown Stevens Point around 1:15 a.m. Saturday.
He was a junior at UW-Stevens Point studying natural resources. He graduated from Verona Area High School in 2009.
