Jeff FitzgeraldMADISON (WKOW) – U.S. Senate candidate and Assembly Speaker Jeff Fitzgerald (R-Horicon) released a statement in response to Hedge fund manager and Madison native Eric Hovde entering the GOP race.
The other Republican candidates include former Governor Tommy Thompson and former U.S. Representative Mark Neumann. The only Democratic candidate is U.S. Representative Tammy Baldwin.
Fitzgerald's full statement on Hovde is below:
"I welcome Eric to the race. Each candidate will have to display their vision and answer questions in regards to their background and process in job creation and debt reduction. I will continue to spread the word of the successful reforms Governor Scott Walker and I have passed, balancing a $3.6 billion dollar budget deficit without raising taxes, reaffirming the second amendment and enacting comprehensive election reform, all while creating a pro-growth pro-jobs agenda. I have led the charge in passing one of the most conservative agenda's in Wisconsin's history and have faith that our great state will send someone to Washington who is committed to those same principles. I didn't jump into this race for the title or because it was something new to do. I am running to change the direction our county is headed. I trust folks will see that I am the person who can turn things around in Washington, just as I have here in Wisconsin."
