MADISON (WKOW)-- Former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney has won Wyoming's county conventions in the race for the Republican presidential nomination, the Associated Press reported Saturday.
The win gives Romney more delegates, as Republican candidates race to be the first to get to 1144, the number of delegates needed to become the party's choice to run against President Obama in November.
Just 12 delegates were at stake in Wyoming and Romney won at least six, his campaign said.
Romney also won a number of delegates in weekend island contests, including the Virgin Islands, the Northern Mariana Islands and Guam.
The Romney campaign says it won a total of 38 delegates on Saturday.
Republican Rick Santorum won 33 delegates in the Kansas caucuses, and the Associated Press reports he won a total of 36 Saturday, by picking up three in Wyoming.
