‘Harry Potter' actor jailed for joining riots

LONDON (WKOW) – A judge has sentenced a cast member of the "Harry Potter" movies to two years in jail for playing a role in rioting that erupted across England last summer.

Jamie Waylett, who played bully Vincent Crabbe in six of the "Harry Potter" movies, was sentenced by Judge Simon Carr. Prosecutors say the 22-year-old was part of a small gang that participated in riots in north London on August 8, 2011.

A jury at London's Wood Green Crown Court found Waylett guilty Tuesday of violent disorder.  The jury acquitted him of another charge of intending to destroy or damage property with a fire bomb he was holding. Waylett admitted to handling a bottle of champagne from a supermarket during the riots. He has a previous conviction for growing marijuana.
