Police say Sara Hougom called 911 at about 4:20 p.m. Monday after she was shot. She died a short time later at a local hospital. Investigators are calling Hougom's death a homicide and are looking into whether the shooting is connected to another shooting about 20 minutes earlier in a different part of the city. Four gun shots were fired into a home. No one was hit, but bullets broke two windows.
Cindy Lisney, Hougom's aunt says her niece was an energetic, compassionate and good-hearted person. Hougom went to Western Technical College part-time and worked at Manny's Mexican Cocina in Onalaska. She graduated from West Salem High School in 2009.
