WASHINGTON (WKOW) -- Wisconsin Congressman Paul Ryan is expected to endorse Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney on Friday.
Romney is scheduled to give a speech in Appleton that day ahead of Wisconsin's April 3 primary.
Ryan, chairman of the House Budget Committee, is the author of the House Republican budget that proposes to slash federal spending and shrink government.
While the plan is doomed in the Democratic-controlled Senate, it sets out the GOP's fiscal policy.
Romney has praised Ryan's effort to cut taxes and overhaul the tax code.
Ryan has downplayed speculation that he could be picked as the Republican vice presidential candidate.
