MADISON (WKOW) -- Politics will be the subject of a new weekly program produced by 27 News which begins this Sunday, April 1st at 9:00 a.m.
27 News Capitol Bureau Chief Greg Neumann will host "Capitol City Sunday," which will feature interviews with local and state politicians, journalists and others talking about the important issues of the day in Wisconsin.
Our first edition features two of the Democrats running for Governor in the recall election.
Kathleen Falk, the former Dane County Executive joins Greg Neumann and 27 News anchor Greg Jeschke to talk about why she wants to run against Republican Governor Scott Walker.
"You know his extreme agenda, just isn't us in Wisconsin," Falk told us. "I can't stand back, like a million people couldn't, to see the cuts in education, cuts to health care, his rolling back environment laws and just a failure to create jobs."
The other Kathleen in the race, State Senator Kathleen Vinehout (D-Alma), also joins us to discuss not only why she's running, but how she can match the television visibility of Falk and Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett.
"At this point, I'm not sure that people are paying attention to those commercials and I do think that this state has a history of picking winners based on popularity or television commercials," said Sen. Vinehout.
Capitol City Sunday did extend an invitation to Governor Scott Walker to be on our premiere, but his campaign declined.
Secretary of State Doug La Follette has agreed to be on at a later date and we have already put out an invitation to Tom Barrett to join us in the coming weeks as well.
