WKOW and Wake Up Wisconsin are excited to announce the second annual Great Mother's Day Giveaway contest! It's our way of honoring and celebrating all the wonderful things moms do in this community and in your homes.
More than 100 people submitted an essay between April 11 and 18, telling us why their mom's should win the giveaway.
Then, Wake Up Wisconsin's Brian, Dani and Elishah read through all the entries and picked three finalists: Rachel Krohn, Jill Schwantz and Debbie Linneborn.
On Monday, April 30, each of the three finalists will be featured on Wake Up Wisconsin during the 6 o'clock hour of the newscast. That's the same day we're opening up online voting to all our viewers. So it's up to you to pick the grand prize winner!
The winner you choose will be surprised by the Wake Up Wisconsin team, live and at her home on May 11, in the 6 o'clock hour of the newscast. There, we'll present her with all the gifts from the Great Mother's Day Giveaway.
Description of the Great Mother's Day Giveaway prizes (valued at more than $3,600):

Official Contest Rules:
1. No purchase necessary.
2. To be eligible tell us in 200 words or less why your mother should win WKOW's Great Mother's Day Giveaway. One picture of the mother must accompany entry form. Viewers must fill out the form on this contest page completely. Entries sent in another format will be disqualified. Three qualifiers will be chosen from the entries received which correctly followed all the directions for entry. The three qualifiers will be required to supply the following information to the station: name, current address, current telephone number and a picture of the mother and email address. Only one entry is allowed.
Contest entries accepted April 11-18, 2012. The 27 News Wake Up Wisconsin Team will select the Top 3 Mother's based on the information provided. Then we'll ask viewers to vote on your favorite Mother from the Top 3 online April 30 – May 6. The mother that wins the Great Mother's Day Giveaway will be revealed on May 11, 2012.
3. Odds of winning are based on the number of entries received.
4. WKOW will conduct the contest and WKOW will be the final judge on all matters related to this contest. The judges' decisions are final, binding and conclusive on all matters. By entering this contest, entrants accept and agree to be bound by these rules and the decisions of the judges relative to the contest.
5. Must be at least 21 years of age to win.
6. In the event of non-compliance, an alternative winner may be selected.
7. Winner must be willing to share their story on the air. Winner must be willing to be greeted live on 27 News Wake Up Wisconsin at their home on May 11, 2012. Winner's voice, name & likeness may be used for publicity purposes without further compensation.
8. Employees of WKOW and their families, its subsidiaries, divisions and related companies, its promotional agencies and all participating promotional partners are not eligible.
9. Prize value is approximately $3,600. Taxes are the responsibility of the winner. No cash substitutions permitted. Prize is non-transferable.
10. WKOW reserves the right to settle all disputes and to change and alter the details of the contest as circumstances merit.
11. WKOW requires winners to come to the WKOW at 5727 Tokay Blvd, Madison, WI 53719 weekdays between the hours of 8am-5pm to claim their prize. Winners must sign a liability release, publicity release and accept or decline release. Prizes cannot be mailed.
12. Winners are not eligible to win another contest with WKOW for 30 days after winning.
