MADISON (WKOW) -- Democrats looking to challenge Republican state senators in this spring's recall elections have filed nomination signatures.
Challengers had until 5:00 p.m. Tuesday to file at least 400 signatures with the state Government Accountability Board to get their name on the ballot.
As of mid-afternoon, Lori Compas had filed signatures to challenge Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald (R-Juneau), and John Lehman had filed against Sen. Van Wanggaard (R-Racine).
State Reps. Donna Seidel, (D-Wausau) and Jerry Petrowski (R-Marathon), filed to run for former Republican Sen. Pam Galloway's seat. Democrats forced Galloway into a recall but she resigned last month, leaving her seat open.
The recall elections have been scheduled for May 8 and June 5.
