UPDATE: Suspect in custody after overnight search in Dane County

DANE COUNTY (WKOW) -- Officials say they now have the suspect who lead them in a chase overnight in custody.

The Dane County Sheriff's Office says the suspect, 30-year-old Robbie Thomaschaske, of Watertown, ran away from law enforcement early Friday morning was taken into custody later Friday morning.

Authorities with the Dane County and Jefferson County Sheriff's departments were involved in searching for Thomaschaske.

Officials say they received tips to help locate the suspect in a field near Liberty Road in Deerfield. When deputies saw the suspect, they say he had a handgun. Thomaschaske eventually surrendered to authorities. They say his weapon was an air soft gun made to look like a semi-automatic handgun.

Thomaschaske is now in custody of the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office. He will be booked on a probation warrant, in addition to numerous other charges.

DANE COUNTY (WKOW) -- The Dane County and Jefferson County Sheriff's Departments are searching for an armed man who ran away after a car chase with law enforcement.

Dane County Communications tells 27 News at around 12:11 a.m. Friday, they received a call regarding a vehicle pursuit that Jefferson County Sheriff's Office was involved in. Jefferson County said they were pursuing a stolen 2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse stolen from Watertown on Monday. The pursuit was eastbound on USH 12/18 entering Dane County.

A Dane County Sheriff's deputy was able to deploy spike strips on USH 12/18 at STH 73. The suspect vehicle drove over the strips. Shortly after, the vehicle lost a wheel and came to a stop on USH 12/18 at Thorstad Lane in the Township of Deerfield.

The suspect driver, who was the sole occupant, was seen by the pursuing Jefferson County deputy, running from the disabled vehicle northbound on Thorstad Lane, with what appeared to be a dark colored handgun in his hand.

The Jefferson County Sheriff's deputy lost sight of the suspect. The Town of Madison Police Department assisted with an attempted K-9 track. The track was unable to locate the suspect. Residents in the immediate vicinity were notified of the incident by reverse 911. Dane County deputies also made physical contact with homeowners in the area to advise them of the incident and to provide a description of the suspect.

The suspect is described as a white male, 30 years old, 6'5," weighing about 190 pounds, with a crew cut hairstyle. The suspect was last seen wearing a dark colored T-Shirt, dark colored jeans, and wire rimmed glasses.
