MADISON (WKOW) – A couple traveling from Minnesota found a cat under the hood of their car when they stopped in Madison.
The couple noticed a strange meowing sound coming from their car when they stopped in Tomah, but figured it was coming from a car they parked next to. When the couple stopped in Madison, they heard the sound again and began to search around their car for the cat. When they opened the hood, they found an orange cat named Leon.
The Dane County Humane Society says the cat was a little shaken up, but otherwise healthy. The cat's owner has been contacted and the humane society is trying to figure out a way to get Leon back home to Minnesota.
The couple, who found the cat on their way out east for vacation, says they're thankful the cat was wearing a current tag and will be reunited with its owner.
In honor of "National Pet ID Week" (April 15-21), the Dane County Humane Society is reducing the fees of their microchipping services and personalized ID tags. During the week, microchips will be $15 and personalized ID tags will be $5.
