Stoughton police make 7 drug-related arrests this week

STOUGHTON (WKOW) – Stoughton police arrested seven people for either Possession of Controlled Substances with Intent to Deliver or actual Delivery of Controlled Substances in six separate drug incidents between Monday, April 9 and Friday, April 13.

Police say it's unusual to have this many cases in such a short period of time. Some of the cases were linked through follow up investigations, while others came from police patrols.

Police Chief Greg Leck says he's happy with his staff's hard work.  "Officers and Detectives were working on cases simultaneously and that really requires a lot of focus," Chief Leck said. "At one point we had every interviewing room and holding space in the department occupied with suspects."

Police say the cases involved heroin, THC and other illegally possessed prescription drugs. In some cases, stolen property was recovered. More arrests are possible, as police continue to investigate theses cases.

Police arrested:

  • Mahreana Patrino, 23, Delivery of Heroin and Maintaining a Drug Dwelling
  • Yitonis Nash, 31, Delivery or Manufacturing Heroin and a Probation Violation
  • Deron Cribbs, 35, Delivery or Manufacturing Heroin and a Probation Violation
  • Andrew Berg, 30, 2 counts of Possession with Intent to Deliver Heroin
  • Andrew Shanklin, 18, Possession of THC with Intent to Deliver
  • Timothy Mitchell, 19, Possession of THC with Intent to Deliver, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Bail Jumping
  • Melissa Baltus, 25, Delivery of Schedule II Narcotic and a Probation Violation

Stoughton police say they have also been investigating a series of thefts and a home invasion burglary that occurred on Monday, April 9. That case involved a suspect with drug abuse issues.  The suspect was wanted for a defrauding an innkeeper case from April 8 and was then involved in a retail theft case on April 9.

While police were investigating these incidents, the suspect walked into an unlocked occupied home and attempted to steal items, but was confronted by the home owner. Police found the suspect in an open garage at a home near the scene of the burglary. The suspect was taken into custody after a brief struggle. Police say neighbors played a big role in the arrest by spotting the suspect entering the garage and notifying the police department.  Police arrested Zachary Marcotte, 20, for 2 Counts of Burglary, 2 counts of Theft, and Resisting Arrest.
