Making severe weather safety a priority

State emergency officials say the severe storms threatening Wisconsin and other Midwest state Saturday and Sunday should serve as a timely reminder of the importance of being prepared for severe weather.

Severe Weather Awareness Week kicks off on Monday, and those emergency officials say now is the time to make safety a priority.

"Talk to your family about, okay, what would be the safest place to take shelter in our home right now, or if we're at someone else's home, or if we're out doing whatever we're doing this evening," said Tod Pritchard with Wisconsin Emergency management. "Kinda think about where could we go if the weather became severe very quickly."
