MADISON (WKOW) -

You may have noticed television and direct mail ads from Madison Gas and Electric (MG&E) promoting its new green energy campaign.

MG&E is offering you a chance to buy purchase green power, not made with non-renewable fuels, at an added monthly cost.

The power company's web site promotes its initiatives, claiming buying solar and wind power is the easiest and most effective way to preserve energy.

MG&E claims more than 10,000 customers already purchase green power, and MG&E media relations manager Steve Kraus says they've seen an increase in recent weeks of people wanting to take advantage of the offer.
