MADISON, Wis. (WKOW) -- On a cold, rainy day in Madison, a redshirt freshman dominated the annual UW Spring Game on Saturday. Kenosha's Melvin Gordon rushed 30 times for 159 yards and a touchdown. He picked up the slack for starters Montee Ball and James White who both sat out as a precaution. Gordon led the Cardinal to a 21-10 victory over the White team.
Others who sat out include middle linebacker Chris Borland, who took limited snaps this spring due to a tender hamstring, along with fellow starting linebackers senior Mike Taylor (hip) and junior Ethan Armstrong (hip). Receiver Jared Abbrederis also sat out with a foot injury.
