Haircuts benefit cancer research

MADISON (WKOW) -

Be Inspired Salon on Madison's west side hosted a charity cut-a-thon Saturday and Sunday.

The funds raised will be specifically earmarked for breast cancer research, supporting the Chelsea's Hope Fund.

The stylists say it's a unique way to make use of their talents and give back at the same time.

"Anybody can write a check," said stylist Kati Corbett. "But to show everybody that we have a skill, and we can help use that skill for good. I think is a great thing."

Chelsea's Hope Fund is named for Chelsea Harris. The local woman and her family have been hard hit hard by breast cancer.

Her charity has raised more than 35-thousand dollars for the UW's Carbone Cancer Center in the past few years.
