
MIDDLETON (WKOW) -- With sole possession of first place in the Big 8, the Verona girls soccer team beat Middleton 2-1 in overtime on Tuesday night at Middleton Soccer Complex.
The Cardinals took a 1-0 lead in the first half, thanks to Brenna Shea's deflection into the net, but the Wildcats rallied in the second half.
Felicia Retrum kicked a perfect pass to Ashley Seymour, who headed it into the net to tie the game at 1.
In overtime, it was senior Erin Peterson who found the corner of the net with a header to put the Wildcats all alone atop the Big 8 standings at 5-0 in conference play.
