GREEN BAY (WKOW) -- The NFL has suspended four players for their roles in the New Orleans Saints' bounty system, including Packers' defensive lineman Anthony Hargrove for 8 games.

Saints linebacker Jonathan Vilma was suspended for the entire 2012 season, Saints defensive lineman Will Smith will serve four games' suspension and Browns linebacker Scott Fujita will be out for three games, all for the roles they played in receiving improper cash bonuses for hits aimed at injuring opposing players and taking them out of games.

According to the NFL, as many as 27 Saints players took part in the bounty system, which was organized by then-defensive coordinator Gregg Williams.

Saints head coach Sean Payton will serve a one-year suspension for his involvement, and the Saints program was fined $500,000.

The Packers signed Hargrove as a free-agent this offseason. Hargrove most recently played for the Seattle Seahawks after his time with the Saints.
