Sheriff's sergeant accused of taking child porn photos

Posted:

MILWAUKEE (WKOW) – A federal complaint of producing child pornography is directed towards a Milwaukee County Sheriff's sergeant.

Sgt. Philip Wentzel is accused of taking photographs of young girls at a campsite in Campbellsport.

Federal investigators say he shared the photos through an internet peer-to-peer file sharing network.

The complaint says investigators found images from Wisconsin after a search warrant was carried out in Denver, Colorado last year.

WISN-TV reports the images had GPS data linking them to the campground located in Fond du Lac County.

The complaint says authorities were able to relate a camper in the campground, a cell phone and computer IP addresses to Wentzel.

A phone message left for the Milwaukee County sheriff's sergeant was not immediately returned.
